HERBAL & FRIUT TEAS
Did you know you can make tea with fresh herbs and boiling water? It takes just 5 minutes to make a cup of restorative herbal tea! This is perfect for the summer when fresh herbs are plentiful: but they work in any season. You’ll be amazed at the flavour of this simple trick!
There are so many varieties/combinations of teas you can make. My favourite is Earl Grey so below is my recipe.
INGREDIENTS
-
1 cup loose leaf black tea,
-
1/4 cup lapsang souchong loose leaf tea
-
Handful of Orange peel
-
1/4 cup of dried Bergamot Leaves (I buy this pre-dried) - you can use a food safe bergamot oil - 10 drops if using an oil
-
1/4 cup of dried Cornflower Petals (I use blue but have also used purple/pink before)

HOW TO
-
Orange peel - I blitz this up in my coffee grinder. I still like to keep this chunky.
-
If using all dried leaves add in the teas, bergamot, cornflowers, orange peel to a jar. Shake well for several minutes.
-
This tea blend can be made into tea immediately but I like to let mine cure for three days to let the ingredients mix.
-
I recommend drinking this within six months, but it won't spoil or go bad, it will just weaken.
If using Bergamot oil pour 10 -15 drops of the bergamot essential oil into a pint jar. Put a lid on the jar and shake well to distribute the essential oil all over the inside of the glass. The follow the steps above.
You can also add dried lemon peel and dried lavender to make this Lady Grey Tea.
